"I never seem to tire of its heartwarming message. Still, a fresh interpretation is always welcome. Nashville Repertory Theatre’s current staging certainly delivers in that regard, with a festive new adaptation from the Rep’s artistic director...Leaning into the joy of the holidays, Brewer has concocted a grand, family-friendly production that is brimming with warmth and spirit. He’s added some lovely musical elements, from traditional carols to his own original tunes...I was far more excited by Brewer’s thoughtful adjustments to the storytelling, which add depth, dimension and even a bit of humor." - Amy Stumpfl The Nashville Scene

"
Nashville Repertory Theatre, in their tradition of celebrating this festive time of year, draws upon the sense of family that pervades our theater community by presenting a sumptuously appointed production of a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ venerable Christmas tale – A Christmas Carol – written and directed with heartfelt emotion to match the demands of the season by Micah-Shane Brewer...Brewer and his artistic and creative collaborators welcome audiences with a palpable sense of love and affection that not only warms the heart, but which makes our holiday season even brighter than before." - Jeffrey Ellis, Broadway World

"
Micah-Shane Brewer’s adaptation remains faithful to the book without slowing the pace to tell us what is easily shown. The pacing of the play is good, and it does not feel 2.5 hours long (there’s an intermission midway through the Ghost of Christmas Present’s visit). There are a few added moments of humor that match the tone of the play. Brewer doesn’t shoehorn anything into or out of the story and there’s no gimmick. His tone matches the novel’s, and the darker moments (for example, the children Ignorance and Want) aren’t avoided, emphasizing the purpose of the play: to show that the true spirit of Christmas is generosity and love through helping others." - G.E. Tipton, Music City Review
